All the Faculty members are equipped with PCs/ Laptops. The department has a computer with internet facility along with a laser printer and photocopier, a DVD Player, and new audio-visual equipment such as LCD projector, educational CDs & DVDs, a modern language lab, a Handy Cam, a 3CCCD Camera and fully equipped Editing and Sound Mixing Units.

Activities

The department has been conducting seminars and workshops on a regular basis for the inhouse academia and for the ELTS of nearby schools. The Faculty regularly participate in seminars/workshops and present research papers and publish them in research Journals including the one published by the college. Besides, the department has been publishing a bi-monthly titled The Word since 2004.

In 2005, the department conducted a 3-day workshop on ‘Business Communication and Business English’ for perfecting the Interpersonal and presentation skills of the students. The students of the department launched a musical album titled “Strings” in 2006, which featured some of the finest young musical talents of the college.

In 2008, the Department began offering an add-on course on Audio-Visual Communication. So far three short films have been produced viz: Campus Monday (2009), Manjuthulli (2010) and Venalpookal (2011).The production of another short film Dhaya is scheduled to begin in February 2012.

Continuous assessments of students are being done based on attendance, marks scored in seminars and assignments, performance in test papers etc. Apart from the mid-term and model examinations monthly and class test papers are regularly given.
