Continuous assessments of students are being done based on attendance, marks scored in seminars and assignments, performance in test papers etc. Apart from the mid-term and model examinations monthly and class test papers are regularly given.

Sri. N. Jayachandran, former Head of the Department is an eminent writer. Dr. Leela Kumari Amma, former HOD, is also an eminent writer and has authored three books entitled ‘Bhaja Govindam’, ‘Hindi Grammar’ and ‘Thadukke Bhandhan’ (Criticism). She has so far published 45 articles in various journals. She won the ‘Woman of the Year 2000’ from the American Institute, America. She is a member of the Professional Women’s Advisory Board of the American Institute, America, Research Board of Editors, America and Poetry Garden, Thiruvananthapuram.
